Matthew D. Tippens

Matthew D. Tippens is a historian and the author of two books. His first book, Turning Germans into Texans: World War I and the Assimilation and Survival of German Culture in Texas, 1900-1930, was an adaptation of his doctoral dissertation. Tippens’ latest book, published in December of 2020, is Beer, Lust, and Murder: The Killing of Otto Koehler and the Trial that Gripped San Antonio. Specializing in the fields of Cold War Germany, and German-American immigration and ethnicity, he holds a Ph.D. in history from Texas Tech University.
